Have Pride in Your Progress

Hi everyone!

Can you believe we’re already past halfway through 2019? I’m still so blown away by how fast this year is flowing by, and so excited to make the best of what’s left these next 5+ months.

One constant theme I’ve been working with is growing.

Growing past old versions of yourself, to grow into who you are becoming.

I’ve taken it upon myself to face my inner critic head-on. Given that my inner critic is a total asshole, it’s going to take a lot of work to get there. And I look forward to the journey that lies ahead.

As I’m working my way towards getting into nursing school, one of the big steps I need to get over is my fear of needles (yes, pretty convenient lol). Ever since I was 12, I developed a vasovagal reaction to needles. Shots, piercings, blood drawings would all make me pass out.

I’ve always wanted to work with patients in the medical field, so obviously this has been something that I need to get over. I’ve carried so much disappointment with myself over the years because of this irrational fear.

By focusing on my breath (thanks yoga!) this past week was the first time I got my blood drawn without feeling woozy! I’ve still got a long ways to go before nursing school, but I’m excited to conquer my fears and doubts along the way.

Here are a few reminders to support you through your own journey of growth:

Take a moment to honor and reflect how much you’ve grown.

Think about where you were when you first began your journey.

Recognize how you embraced facing your fears, released your doubts, and continue to grow.

Wherever you currently are in your journey, have pride in your progress.
