Unprecedented Beauty is Yet to Come

We’re currently living in “unprecedented times.”

“No ones seen anything like this before.”

“When will it all be over?”

We’re experiencing something that’s impacting every single one of us. It’s flooding all of the headlines, it’s across the globe, and we all get to stay safe in lockdown together.

Some of us never would’ve imagined this. Others of us saw this coming. Major thanks to my UCSD Bio education for making it pretty apparent that we would have a pandemic somewhere in our near future.

And unfortunately, it may not be the only one we will experience in our lifetime.

Regardless, just because we’re experiencing something that’s incredibly difficult, challenging, and dangerous, doesn’t mean that this year is ruined.

And who’s to say that “unprecedented times” can only be strenuous?

Why not be open to the possibility that we also get to experience “unprecedented times” in beautiful ways that we never could have imagined?

Yes, this virus has made a large impact for all of us. And yet, we’re making progress in containing it. For now, it doesn’t look like this will last forever.

It may be difficult to live with an open mind and an open heart during these arduous times. And it’s okay to feel sad, lonely, or depressed with what’s going on. This is the perfect time to allow yourself to feel your feelings, rather than suppressing them and allowing them to weigh you down.

And if you look at our history, we’ve been able to bounce back and grow even more united. Just look how far we’ve come since World War II. Yes, there have been many more painful events, but we’ve recovered and grown tremendously since then.

Love cannot exist without fear. Anxiety can’t exist without excitement. We need to have contrast in our lives, or else we’ll be living without any color or meaning.

And in these times we get to trust that better things are in store for us. We get to be open to the possibilities that we still get to experience love and joy like we’ve never seen before.

Sending so much love to each and every one of you. If I can support you in any way, please reach out to me.

Stay safe! With love,

Julia
