Giving Way to Surrender

When we think of surrendering, we often associate it with letting go, giving up, and losing control.

In our society, we’re so accustomed to being in a rush. Maybe it’s meeting strict deadlines at work, cramming before exams in school, or squeezing in time to spend with friends. So often we prioritize these things, yet forget to prioritize our own selves.

We’re so familiar with the constant chatter in our heads. Completely enamored by our own thoughts, it’s almost uncomfortable to sit in stillness and quiet our mental chatter. We get so caught up, that we forget our own purpose. We forget our own worth, our strengths, our mission.

But why is it that when we hit rock bottom, there’s suddenly a light at the end of the tunnel?

In that space of stillness, we finally find the strength or inspiration we need to get where we need to go. Had we just surrendered earlier, we would’ve saved so much more time and energy to get to where we are now.

The Universe is consistently working to bring us whatever we need to guide us towards our Highest Selves. Even during times of turmoil, we have an opportunity to learn more about ourselves as we grow past our struggles.

While raising a loved one who has special needs can bring lots of challenges, from the additional doctor appointments, public tantrums, etc, those moments all teach us how to handle adversity. How to remain strong, patient, and continue living through love.

When overbearing thoughts and stress start to pile up in your mind, begin to soften and find the stillness within the storm⁣. Begin to trust that when you are committed to your vision, everything will work out exactly the way it should for you.

We’ve grown so accustomed to our own strength, so familiar with our own mental chatter, we misinterpret surrendering as throwing in the towel.

But when we realize that we have the support of the Universe and our loved ones around us, we don’t have to do everything alone. We don’t need to rely on our own strength. We have our friends who support us, and numerous support groups online with families who are in similar situations to us.

When we quiet our minds and tune into our own selves, that’s when we can finally listen to our own intuition. When we can listen to our gut, and find the answers we need to get where we need to go. When we can open up our hearts and our minds to receive the guidance that we need.
